Generous Giving: The Bible and Giving
Dear Redemption City Family,
Talking about money in the church should not be awkward, yet nobody wants to hear the preacher talk about giving. So, why does the church talk about money?
Jesus talked more about money than he did about heaven and hell combined. His primary point in teaching about money was this: We cannot love both God and money. Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. (Matthew 6:21, 24)
Tim Keller once said, “Living is giving. We live life best when we give ourselves, our resources, our competencies, and our time in service to others and in support of God’s mission. If you spend your money on yourself, you are just surviving. But if you want your life to count, if you want to really live – give.”
Generous giving flows out of the Gospel. A disciple does not ask, "How much can I keep?" but, "How much more can I give?" Join us tomorrow as we learn what it means to join God in the renewal of all things in Boston through generous giving.
I hope to see you there.
Praying for you,
Women: Mark your calendars for a casual Women’s Gathering on Friday, September 18th from 7-9PM at the Maclean Household. This is a great opportunity to meet new faces and catch up with familiar ones. More info and RSVP on our website.
Haley House Soup Kitchen
We are helping the Haley House Soup Kitchen on September 20th from 1:30-5PM as we prepare/serve a meal for the elderly homeless community of the neighborhood. Sign up on our website to reserve your spot to help (limited spots available).
Every Sunday morning, Redemption City Church holds pre-service prayer meetings at 9:45am. Please join us in the hallway next to the auditorium to pray for our church, our city, and our world.
We’re a growing church and are always in need of some helping hands with our Sunday Gathering. Please stop by our “Resource Table” on Sundays or check out our website to find out how you can get involved.
City Groups Launching
On September 14th, we are excited to launch City Groups (formerly Community Groups), which are smaller extensions of our community that meet at different locations in the city throughout the week. In the coming weeks, Pastor Juan will be sharing more about these groups, so stay tuned!
Interested in learning more about our church? Attend our next membership class scheduled for September 26th, 10AM – 2PM at the South End Branch of Boston Public Library. Learn more and sign up for the class on our website.
