Reading The Bible in 2015

"All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness..." (2 Timothy 3:16, ESV).

We at Redemption City Church desire to be people who know the Bible and love the Bible. Yet, a good question to ask in response is "why"...why do we want to know and love the Bible?

The Bible is the great narrative of God. It tells us who He is, how He works, and what He has done and will continue to do. God's Word makes sense of the world we live in, exposing not only who He is but who we are.

As we read the Bible, we not only learn about God and ourselves, but we are changed as a result. Similar to any relationship, spending time getting to know our Creator causes us to love Him more. As we love Him more, our desires to obey Him increase and our desires for sin decrease. The truth of God renews our minds. It helps us stand firm. It strengthens us to fight the good fight of faith.

This is why we want to know and love the Bible -- we come to know and love God more.

We encourage you to dive into the Word this year with us. Below we've listed a few resources to help you get started, and there are plenty of options to choose from. Find the one that works best for you, schedule it into your daily routine, and find someone to hold you accountable in pursuing God through His Word!
